Protest Safety Advisory: "No Kings" Event – Los Angeles
To all those planning to attend or support the #NoKings protest in Los Angeles (and other cities too):

We urge nonviolent resistance, awareness, and caution. With reports of Marines or federal forces deployed during Trump’s Military Parade/Dictator Demonstration, the situation may carry echoes of past tragedies — including the Kent State shootings of 1970, where National Guardsmen opened fire on unarmed students protesting the Vietnam War.

THIS IS NOT A DRILL.
We support your right to assemble. But we also urge:

  • Document everything. Record interactions. Livestreams and body cams save lives.
  • Stay calm. Provoking federal or military personnel increases risk to all.
  • Have an exit plan. Know multiple routes. Never protest alone.
  • Designate emergency contacts. Write numbers on your arm in case phones are confiscated or dead.
  • Know your rights. Peaceful protest is protected — but that doesn’t mean the response will be peaceful.  (see link to ACLU training above)
  • Bring basic medical supplies if you're trained. Stay near medics or safety marshals.
  • If you’re attending: go not in anger, but in purpose. If you’re supporting from afar: amplify, report abuse, and stay alert.
