But somehow, Gaza never came up.

As a repressed Lutheran — raised to be polite, disciplined, and silent in the face of discomfort — I recognize what it means to swallow the truth for the sake of respectability.
But I also recognize when silence has become complicity.
Let’s walk through the logic:

If democracy demands accountability, how do we ignore our role in mass suffering?

If leadership requires moral clarity, how is Gaza excluded from the script?

If we lean on history to understand our present, how do we skip the chapter about standing up when it matters most?
Luther once said: “Here I stand, I can do no other.”
But this isn’t about becoming martyrs. It’s about refusing to be props in a performance of virtue that ignores the cost of silence.

So no, Secretary Pete, you don’t get to polish your image while entire families are erased by U.S.-backed munitions.
The logic breaks. The silence indicts.

Due Process in America is under attack.  We will try to keep you posted!  Send us your stuff too: info@greencornokies.org
Excerpt from the Augusta article below:
"
Timothy Snyder warns, “If you accept that non-citizens have no right to due process, you are accepting that citizens have no right to due process. All the government has to do is claim that you are not a citizen; without due process you have no chance to prove the contrary.”

And another truly dystopian excerpt from the same article:  (Think about this one for a minute..........)
"In a particularly Kafkaesque explanation for why some of the Venezuelan migrants who have no criminal records were targeted for arrest and deportation, government lawyers argued in court that their lack of a criminal record is in itself cause for concern.

Yikes.  Could the name of this bill be any more Orwellian double-speak?
On Jan. 3, Republican Rep. Chip Roy of Texas reintroduced the Safeguard American Voter Eligibility Act, or SAVE Act, a bill aimed at preventing voting by noncitizens. The SAVE Act would require that individuals registering to vote show “documentary proof of United States citizenship,”
including when they re-register after moving to a new state........
"The Brennan Center has also warned that people who have changed their name, such as married women, may be blocked from registering to vote because of discrepancies between their ID and birth certificate.
